I’ve been collecting teddy bears for 5 years now and I have about 2,000 of them. I always loved teddy bears and I even have some from when i was a baby. My friend told me today that I need to get rid of them because they are starting to scar him. Should he just be happy that I have a hobby instead of me being out acting stupid etc?

I think its cute and adorable you collect them its not crazy its cool to collect
If you can afford the hobby and it gives you personal satisfaction, then you shouldn’t have to justify it to your friend.
I’m a collector too, not bears tho.
Just tell him that it’s something that gives you pleasure – I know how finding a new addition to your collecting is a big deal. Also tell him that in years to come they may be worth something, so they could be seen as an investment – that is if you could ever part with them lol.
Failing that just gently explain that it’s nothing to do with him and really, scared of bears????
I have a collection of thongs and pink fuzzy hand cuffs, I feel the same way you do.
awww. i think that’s kool! i dont think you should stop doing something u like.
… well. that is interesting.. I dont have a hobby and I’m insaine
Just take it from me, it’s betta to have a hobby.
When I was 11 I had a collection of stuffed beagles. One day I came home from school and my mom had thown them all out. She exclaimed: Your father said you’re too old for stuffed animals boys don’t do that. I was STUNNED and never understood it; guess they thought stuffed beagles turned ya ***. I’ll never forget or forgive her for that many similar things they did to me.
Its what you like to collect we all collect something me its skateboards and football cards you its bears you should just tell him to stop doing something he loves the next time he brings it up and see what he has to say about that and yes he should just be happy you have a hobby and not out getting drunk and being a idiot…
Your friend is scared of stuffed teddy bears…?My oh my…!! TH is your hobby… Everybody should have a hobby – it prevents one from climbing the walls and walking on the ceiling (s)..
If he can’t accept a harmless hobby such as collecting teddy bears, just tell him it’s a lot less costly than collecting guys…!!!!
The teddy bears were there before him, n’est pas…? All pecking order…
And it’d be a lot easier on both of you, if HE showed an interest in your hobby such as giving each and every one a name, and make up name tags for them… Put your collection on the computer with details of each and every one..
And I’m sure there are teddy bair collectors conventions for you two to go to.. It has to get involved as well if he WANTS YOU….!!!
He should be lucky that you do what you do, and not get into trouble..
Iguess if teddy bears scare him, my hobby / collection here would give him nightmares…
I collect swizzle sticks – they’re al in alpha order as well as color order.. And I only have a small collection, – a bit over 50,000
Have fun,

Well, I can see how your friend might be concerned. 2,000 is a lot of bears to accumulate in a very short period of time. Where do you keep them all??! Your place must be filled with bears. It’s good to have a hobby, and bears aren’t hard to find. Your friend should be supportive of your hobby and there is no reason to get rid of them. Collecting things is a part of human nature, and is a very healthy, social thing to do. But have you thought of perhaps slowing down just a little. Collections are gathered over a lifetime. It sounds like you aren’t really collecting so much as you are buying every bear that you see. I know this isn’t going to be a popular answer, but, hey…Why are you buying so many bears? What’s the hurry?
