  • Unless your trying to be an english major or something… that sounds like a waste of time. Find a better hobby. Play video games or watch tv. Or just hang out with friends. Writing poems and *** sh1t like that sucks

  • Playing video games doesn’t necessarily help your intellectual capacity. This, I believe, is the benefit of writing: to enhance your intellect and form you into a more creative individual. I get complimented often on my writing skills, and I love the fantasies, the metaphors, the extreme descriptiveness I can create with words. It is actually an art, but you can learn to do it by reading, by writing, and by talking with people who talk about interesting things which may inspire your writing. Write travel reviews or critique movies. Those are good ways to get started. Or find some issue in society which confounds you or inspires you and write your opinion on it. Good luck. America needs more good writers.

  • A good way to get started as a writer is to keep a journal. Don’t just write what happened during the day, but concentrate on how you FELT about whatever happened to you. Try to make a story of your day; when you say I felt like.. you’re using a simile. As far as allegories are concerned, turn your day into an allegory and write it as fiction. Soon, writing will become second nature. As far as a life benefit, by writing you’ll learn to express yourself clearly and without wasting words, which will help you at work, school, and in your relationships with other people.

  • Your grammar is not so poor. You need to locate the shift key is all. I had terrible grades in school. Not dumb, just bored. Do what Elaine says. Get a stack of legal pads and start taking notes. I used to go to the courthouse and take notes during trials. Not verbatim dialog. I wrote down my own ideas on what was and wasn’t fair. I always volunteered to write or take notes for clubs and organization I belonged to. I went out of my way to understand things. It takes time. I’m 51 now. People tell me that my efforst have paid off. We will see.

Keep working on it and when you worry about grammar, just try to write like you talk. If you pause, add a comma there g.

    Best of luck!
