Every year at Christmas time my mom would make a jam cake and we grew our own grapes and during the summer she made grape juice. She opened the grape juice at Christmas for the first time to go along with the jam cake. It was sort of a tradition with my family. She passed away some time ago but I never fail to think of this great treat every year when Christmas comes. Thanks for asking.
I actually can’t think of a single sweet I miss. There’s a shop near me in Totton that sells old fashioned sweets from years ago. They even stock them in the huge glass jars that the shopkeepers used to keep them in. They EVEN do all the work for you too! Just pick up the jar, take it over and ask how much you want!
I don’t miss sweets now, there’s so many places these days to buy old fashioned ones it’s like the old days are back for good!
